Standing at the tip of Cape's Point put a visual to all the work and time I have invested into Plastic Ocean Project and Hope Spot: Hatteras thus far. All seven of us piled into my jeep and took off down the coast. That was a new experience for me; driving along the crashing waves of the Atlantic was unreal! When we reached the point I could actually see why this place was so important. I watched as the waves of opposite directions -the deepwater upwelling current (coming up from the bottom), the warm Gulf Stream, and the cold Labrador Current - collided with one another creating this balance of chaos. This raw, transcedence feeling overcame me at that moment. I knew that this was what we had come for.
