A New Hope (Spot)

March 11, 2016

We have all become more comfortable talking with locals about Hope Spot: Hatteras and are recieving tremendous positive feedback. We are starting to realize a hope spot does not just benefit the local community, fishermen, environmental activists, town leaders, solely. This plan benefits everyone and that's the beauty of it!

Once a designated Hope Spot, the international non-profit Mission Blue will help the OBX community increase education and awareness on the specific properties that make their ocean backyard so special. Together we can educate people and encourage everyone to become better stewards of the environment. Learning of the abundant and diverse species found right offshore, people from all walks of life will flock to the OBX to experience it's vibrant, diverse ecosystems.

"In 200 years, people will look back on this particular period and say to themselves: 'How did those people at that time just allow all of these amazing creatures to vanish?' But it would very little use in me or anybody else in exerting all this energy to save the wild places if people are not being educated into being better stewards than we’ve been. If we all lose hope, there is no hope. Without hope, people fall into apathy. There’s still a lot left that’s worth fighting for."— Jane Goodall, Racing Extinction

Take action to make Hope Spot: Hatteras happen, watch Mission Blue today! (Avaliable on Netflix).
